May 29-31 – 30th Annual Tate Conference at Casper College

The 30th annual Tate Conference will be held Friday May 29 through Sunday May 31, 2026. The theme this year: Twilight of the Dinosaurs: Terrestrial Life in the Cretaceous

The Tate Field Conference features a day of speakers on Saturday and two days of field trips. aturday evening includes a dinner and Keynote Speaker Kirk Johnson, Director of the National Museum of Natural History.

April 22 – UFOP Southwest Chapter Meeting Featuring Speaker Tony Harper, PhD

Our speaker this month is Tony Harper, PhD, who will be presenting his research on mammalian inner ears from Argentina to Mongolia. He promised to keep the technical level of his presentation appropriate for non-PhD listeners. Thank you Tony! His talk is titled, “The Sound and the Furry: Mammalian Cochlear Evolution in the Mesozoic”

April 8 — Castle Country Chapter Meeting — Talk by Michael Chiappone

Castle Country Chapter will meet on Monday, April 8 and will feature a talk by Michael Chiappone, PhD candidate at University of Minnesota. He will be presenting “Go with the Flow: Experimental Methods for Investigating Bone Transport and Burial”. Join us online or meet at the museum classroom at 7 pm. A few of us will be meeting at the Mecca before the meeting if you care to join us, around 5:15 pm.
