Annual Meeting 2014
May 30, 31 - June 1, 2014
The Utah Friends of Paleontology, Uinta Basin Chapter, will host the 2014 UFOP annual meeting in Vernal, Utah. From the world famous Hayden Quarry at nearby Dinosaur National Monument to the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum in town, Vernal is a hub for paleontology field work. The Utah Field House has a brand new collections wing and an active prep lab.

If you Google search for Vernal Travel it will list Vernal motels with maps and links to their sites. Motel space should be better since the addition of new rooms this past year but early reservations are recommended.

Convention T-Shirt
Features a Subway System Map to the Uinta Basin fossils and geology. $15 per shirt on the registration form. Shirt orders must be received by May 9 to allow for printing.
Friday, May 30
Utah Field House Museum
Field Trips
Experience quarrying Green River fossils in Cowboy Canyon or another location. These sites produce leaves, plant stems, insects and other invertebrates. Bring food and water for the afternoon as well as shale splitting tools and boxes for your specimens. Pick up site maps and descriptions at the Utah Field House Museum (museum opens at 9:00 am). Any fossil material determined to be significant will be retained for the museum collections. Please indicate on your registration if you are planning to attend.
6:00 pm – Meeting Begins
Convention registration, opening social with light refreshments, museum access with tours of the collection and prep lab facility.

Presentations are to be 15 minutes in length SVP style. Subjects can be scientific, UFOP projects or activities. Indicate title of your presentation on the registration form. A laptop PC and projector is provided. Bring presentations on usb drive or CD/DVD ROM.

Utah Field House Museum
8:00 am Field Trips - Multiple field trip routes are being setup to fit attendees time schedules and interests. Trips will include sites in the Green River and Uinta formations, Oil Shale, Gilsonite, and historic Uintah Railroad locations. Details will be announced before the meeting dates.
Banquet
Due to occupation limits in the Quarry Exhibit Hall, that houses the Carnegie Quarry in Dinosaur National Monument. The banquet will be limited to the first 60 people registered. The meal will be a Dutch Oven style buffet. Menu is still to be determined. The banquet has been funded by the Uintah County Office of Travel and Tourism.
